Creativity, Employment and Local Economic Development
in the Southern Mediterranean

Algiers, the 14th and the 15th November 2017

 

 Under the high patronage of His Excellency Mr. Abdelaziz Bouteflika, President of the Republic, the Ministry of Industry and Mines organizes in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), a Regional Conference entitled "Creativity, Employment and Economic Development in the Southern Mediterranean" which to be held on the 14th and the 15th of November 2017 in Algiers -Sheraton Hotel-.

This event, which is part of the project "Creative Mediterranean : Clusters Development in Cultural and Creative Industries of the Southern Mediterranean", aims to identify and share the best practices implemented in this framework and to transform cultural and creative heritage into goods and services with added economic and cultural value, responding to demands from international markets.

Four (04) main issues will be debated during this conference, namely :

  1. Resilience through creativity : a powerful lever for local economic development ;
  2. Clusters as engines of innovation, growth and internationalization of SMEs : feedback from the MENA region ;
  3. The economic integration of women, through the creative industries in the Southern Mediterranean ;
  4. The Euro-Mediterranean Partnership for Industry : How to facilitate trade in the cultural and creative sectors ?
     

Also, workshops and an exhibition are planned back to back with the work of this conference.

This conference is attended by Industry Ministers and representatives of high-level institutions from : Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, Italy, the European Commission, as well as representatives of the private sector, entrepreneurs, civil society, academia and international cooperation partners.
